Aug. 16-20  South Elgin Lions’ Riverfest Festival. Volunteers are needed to help with the food booths and the South Elgin Leos will need help selling corn.

Aug. 17        Cruisin’ Nights in Downtown Westmont from 4—9 PM. Westmont Lions will be sponsoring the LIF Hearing & Sight buses for free screenings.

Aug. 17        Geneva Lions’ Monthly Get-Together — open to all — join them at Penrose Brewery, 509 Stevens St., Geneva, IL

Aug. 18        Elburn Days at Elburn Lions’ Park, 500 Filmore Street, Elburn IL. Go out to Elburn and have some old-fashioned fun for the day!

Aug. 18        The Elmhurst Lions Club Reverse Raffle tickets are available now. Volunteers are needed to help distribute tickets.

Aug. 18        Sandwich Lions Club’s 3rd Cruise night of the summer. Display of cars is on Railroad Street in Sandwich, normally starting at Main Street at 5 PM and lasting until approximately 8 PM. Contact Lion Leo at 815 786-7380 for additional information.

Aug. 20        59th Annual Cornfest from Noon to 6 PM, at which time 3,500 ears of sweetcorn will be given away by Island Lake Lions as a way of thanking the community for its support throughout the year. Also, the club is raffling off four Cub tickets (nine rows behind home plate, includes parking pass) to the Sunday, September 3rd, game against Atlanta.

Aug. 26-28  Glen Ellyn Lions Club’s 48th Annual Festival of the Arts at beautiful newly-updated Lake Ellyn. Free admission, everyone is welcome — food, drink, fun, art, and live music for the entire family. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy great music or relax in our beer & wine garden.

Aug. 28        District 1 – J Candy Day Jamboree at Elburn Lions Club House —see p. 2 of August Issue for details!

Aug. 30        Southeast Region Meeting hosted by the Westmont Lions Club at Lions Park, Naperville Rd. & Wilmette Avenue, Westmont. Bring your own adult beverages. Sept. 6-10   Sandwich Lions Club Steer Raffle at the Sandwich Fair — go out and buy a couple of raffle tickets — you just might win a prize!

Sep. 09        Aurora Evening Lions Club’s Annual Golf Outing at Phillips Park in Aurora. This is a night event and is limited to the first 72 golfers. If interested, please contact Lion Lynn Miller.

Sept. 10       13th Annual Bartlett Lions’ Day Dash kicks off at 8 AM at the Bartlett Town Center, Main St. & Railroad Avenue. Funds raised are used by the Bartlett Lions to help those in-need in our community.

Nov. 23        20th Annual 5K Turkey Trot, hosted by the Naperville Noon Lions Club, starts at 8 AM. Runners, walkers, running strollers, and special needs runners/walkers are welcome. No dogs or other animals, please. The race is limited to 7,800 registrants and has sold out in previous years. Go to https://www.napervilleturkeytrot.com to register. Only on-line registration is accepted and race day registrations will not be accepted.
