Jul. 03 Bartlett Lions Club’s 4th of July Parade will kick off today at 1 PM. The theme is “The Village of Bartlett — Celebrating 125 Years.”

Jul. 16 1st Annual Charity Softball Tournament hosted by Elmhurst Leo Club with support from the Elmhurst Lions Club from 9 AM to 4 PM. Food, fun, and 16” football at Plunkett Park, S. West Avenue, Elmhurst. 10-12 Person Team—16 inch balls – No Mitts — Cost is $60 per team. For more information, contact Lion Ron Hallberg at, especially if you can be an underwriter or sponsor. Proceeds will support Leader Dogs for the Blind.
Jul. 16 Waterman Lions Club Summerfest and Antique Tractor Show and Tractor Pull — all day at Waterman Lions Park.
Jul. 21 1-J FISHING DERBY at Lake Shabbona State Park. For the 38th time, the SW Region Lions will be hosting a Special Day in the Park, with all events being accessible. Jul. 28 DISTRICT 1-J GOLF OUTING at Hughes Creek Golf Course, 1749 Spring Valley Drive, Elburn IL. A great place to invite local business members and anyone else that can enjoy the day with us and get some exposure to Lions. Cost is $90.00 which includes your round of golf, cart, lunch on the course, and a tremendous Steak Dinner. Dinner only is a cost of $30 per person. There will be Hole Contests, as well as fun opportunities for the “less serious” competitor. Shotgun Start at 10 AM, Scramble Format. Mail entry forms to Lion Lori Chassee, 841 E. Sep. 14-17 USA/CANADA LIONS LEADERSHIP FORUM at Lincoln, Nebraska – Targeting Young Lions this year with four seminar sessions presented by young Lions, but attendance is open to Lions of all ages. Lion Jay Blake will have his “Follow A Dream” Alcohol Funny Car in the Exhibit Hall during the whole Forum. Jay is the only blind crew chief in the sport of auto racing; he is the main mechanic and heads the Super Drag Racing Team. Register online at
