Aug. 09       Bloomingdale Lions will be promoting the Leo Program to the students at Westfield Middle School from 10 AM – 6:00 PM. Four Lions will do a 2-hour Leo Presentation beginning 10 AM, 12 Noon, 2 PM and 4 PM. For more information, contact Karen Vitale at:

Aug. 10       Wheaton Lions Club’s Annual Golf Outing & Steak Fry, at Cantigny Golf Club, Single $225, Foursome $900, includes 18 holes of golf with cart, box lunch, golf range, chipping & putting practice, on-course refreshments and cash bar. 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM – registration, 12:45 PM – shotgun start. Aug. 10       Bloomingdale Lions’ Septemberfest will be selling beer, wine and hard lemonade.

Aug. 11-14  South Elgin Lions’ Riverfest, Lion Doug is in charge, call him to volunteer, he needs all the support he can get- (847-338-3616) to make this the biggest event ever. Aug. 12       Huntley Lions Club Golf Outing at Pinecrest Golf Club, Huntley. $80 per person includes 18 holes, plus a cart, Buffet Dinner and prize raffles. Aug. 18       Villa Park Lions will co-sponsor the August Concert at Cortesi Veterans Memorial Park from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Refreshments will be served by The V.F.W.

Aug. 19       Elmhurst Lions Club’s Reverse Raffle from 5-7 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 537 S. York Road, Elmhurst. Tickets are $50 each. Only 200 raffle tickets are available for purchase. Aug. 20       Algonquin Lions Club is hosting its 7th Annual Bags Tournament at Buffalo Wild Wings today starting at 11 AM.

Aug. 27-28  Glen Ellyn Lions’ Art Fest, with 90 juried artists in a variety of media, music throughout and food and beverages on a Saturday and Sunday at beautiful Lake Ellyn Park.

Aug. 29       LIONS OF IL FOUNDATION CANDY DAY JAMBOREE at Elburn Lions Park. Candy will be available at this meeting with orders submitted to the 1-J LIF Trustees.

Sep. 10       Aurora Evening Lions Club’s 5th Annual Night Golf Outing fundraiser at Phillips Park Golf Course, 1001 Hill Avenue in Aurora. The public is invited, but the event is limited to 72 golfers. Registration is at 6:15 PM. At 6:45 PM there will be chipping & putting contests, raffles, and a silent auction. Sep. 11       South Elgin Lions Club is hosting a bus trip to the White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals Game today. Cost is $50 — bus leaves at 10:30 AM. Cost includes bus trip to/from the game, drinks on the bus and dinner at the Lions Club

Sep. 14-17  USA/CANADA LIONS LEADERSHIP FORUM at Lincoln, Nebraska – Targeting Young Lions this year with four seminar sessions presented by young Lions, but attendance is open to Lions of all ages. Lion Jay Blake will have his “Follow A Dream” Alcohol Funny Car in the Exhibit Hall during the whole Forum. Jay is the only blind crew chief in the sport of auto racing; he is the main mechanic and heads the Super Drag Racing Team. Get ready to share the “Paw.” Register online at
