Jul. 22-24   Island Lake Lionesses will be selling burgers and brats at  Island Lake’s Lakefest — look for Island Lake Lions serving beverages to go with as the Lions will be running the Beer Tent all three days of the Fest.

Aug. 02       South Elgin Lions Club’s National Night Out Against Crime, please come support your club at this event at Jim Hansen Park. It’s a great opportunity to wear your vests or Lions shirts and show your Lions’ pride to the community

Aug. 04       Bartlett Lions Club’s National Night Out, the Lions will be serving hot dogs (time and place?) Ask a Bartlett Lion!

Aug. 5-7      Taste of Roselle — Roselle Lions will only pour and sell beer in four-hour segments at the event. It’s a major fundraiser for them, but an easy one, too. Lions will be rotating with the local Chamber of Commerce at the Beer Tent.

Aug. 06       LIONS OF ILLINOIS FOUNDATION Golf at Senica’s Oak Ridge Golf Club, 658 East US Highway 6, LaSalle IL. (Note the change of venue.) Money raised is designated to support LIF’s Low Vision Screening Program. Registration is from 10 AM to 12:30 PM with lunch at 12 Noon. Aug. 11-14  South Elgin Lions’ Riverfest, Lion Doug is in charge, call him to volunteer, he needs all the support he can get- (847-338-3616) to make this the biggest event ever. Lion Molly is in charge of the beer tent, she needs help pouring beer, selling tickets and checking IDs, call Lion Molly at:  224-577-5668.

Aug. 12       Huntley Lions Club Golf Outing at Pinecrest Golf Club, Huntley. $80 per person includes 18 holes, plus a cart, Buffet Dinner and prize raffles. Aug. 27-28  Glen Ellyn Lions’ Art Fest, with 90 juried artists in a variety of media, music throughout and food and beverages on a Saturday and Sunday at beautiful Lake Ellyn Park.

Aug. 29       LIONS OF IL FOUNDATION CANDY DAY JAMBOREE at Elburn Lions Park. Candy will be available at this meeting with orders submitted to the 1-J LIF Trustees.

Sep. 10       Aurora Evening Lions Club’s 5th Annual Night Golf Outing fundraiser at Phillips Park Golf Course, 1001 Hill Avenue in Aurora. The public is invited, but the event is limited to 72 golfers. Registration is at 6:15 PM. At 6:45 PM there will be chipping & putting contests, raffles, and a silent auction. Sep. 14-17  USA/CANADA LIONS LEADERSHIP FORUM at Lincoln, Nebraska – Targeting Young Lions this year with four seminar sessions presented by young Lions, but attendance is open to Lions of all ages. Lion Jay Blake will have his “Follow A Dream” Alcohol Funny Car in the Exhibit Hall during the whole Forum. Jay is the only blind crew chief in the sport of auto racing; he is the main mechanic and heads the Super Drag Racing Team. Get ready to share the “Paw.” Register online at www.lionsforum.org.
