Aug. 13-14        Elmhurst Lions Club Garage Sale, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM at the Abbey Senior Center, St. Charles Rd in Elmhurst.

Aug. 20-22        81st Annual Elburn Days -- Come out and support the Elburn Lions Club and the Elburn Leo Club -- have a fun day and/or evening!

Aug. 21             19th Annual Charity Golf Outing hosted by the Glendale Heights Barangay Lions Club at Glendale Lakes Golf Course, 1550 President St., Glendale Heights (630) 260-0018. Everyone is welcome! For $75.00, you get Greens Fee, Cart, Food/Beverages and Cash Prizes. For information call Lion Tem Bangit at 630-935-1045 or Lion Ed Tolentino - 630-788-6499.

Aug. 21             The Youth Service Bureau and the Kroozers of Northern IL are hosting the 14th Annual Classic Auto Show around the square in Woodstock from 5 - 9 PM with over 300 classic cars & hot rods. Woodstock Lions Club will be there with a food stand, selling hot dogs, brats and BBQ sandwiches. Proceeds raised will help the Youth Service Bureau with its programs. Cash raffle, silent auction, and 50s music.

Aug. 24             LIONS NIGHT AT COUGAR PARK - Game starts at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $5 each if a minimum of 20 are ordered. For tickets - call 630-232-8811, ask for Paul at ext. 1156. For questions call Lion Jim Graves at 847-515-3036.

Aug. 25             Bensenville Lions’ Popcorn and 50/50 Music in the Park Raffle Night.

Aug. 27             Elmhurst Lions Club’s Reverse Raffle — 7:00 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 537 S. York Road, Elmhurst, IL $50 per ticket, includes dinner and a chance of winning cash prizes. 1st tkt drawn and every 10th tkt thereafter wins $100 each, 13th, 113th & 175th tkts drawn wins $150 each, 30th & 130th tkts drawn win $250 each and last

Aug. 28-29        Glen Ellyn Lions Club’s Festival of the Arts at beautiful Lake Ellyn Park on Hawthorne St. A wide variety of media -- oil/acrylic paintings, photography, & pottery will be represented. Live music at the Park bandshell. LIF Hearing Bus will be there on Sat. The park is just north of the Glenbard West football field.

Sept. 5              The Bartlett Lions Club will be hosting its 6th Annual Labor Day Dash "Stride For Sight", 5K/10K Run or Walk. Registration for male/female 5K or 10K Run or Walk $20, Kids and Family Dash is $10. The race starts at 8:00 AM. Start and finish at the Bartlett Town Center. Sept. 6              2nd Annual Labor of Love 5K Run/Walk & 1K Kid’s Event, hosted by Downers Grove Noon Lions Club, near McCollum Park, 6700 Main St., Downers Gove. Sep. 8-12          123rd Sandwich Fair -- Best Little Fair in the Midwest -- while you’re there, buy some chances at the Sandwich Lions Club’s Annual Steer Raffle booth (it’s the 50th year for being at the Fair) Who knows — you just might win some good meat!  Go to www.sandwichfair.com for the daily schedule.

Sept. 10-12       Villa Park Lions Club Oktoberfest. Lion Matasek, Chairperson of the Fest, started the ball rolling early by passing out jobs for the big event.

Sep. 17-18         Island Lake Lioness Fall Plant and Book Sale -- from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Island Lake Walgreens.

Sep. 18             South Elgin Lions Club will host a Motorcycle Run to raise money for Diabetes Awareness. More info to come next month.

Sep. 20             Bloomingdale Lions, Bloomingdale Westfield Middle School Leo Club, Erickson School Cub Scout Pack 457 and Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 will hold the 5th Walk-A-Dog-A-Thon fundraiser at 2 PM at Springfield Park Nature Trail. Prizes for the three 'Top Dogs' that raise the most money.  $15 early registration, $20 day of the event. Call 630-894-7394 or log on at www.bloomingdalewalkadogathon.org

Sept. 21            The North Aurora Lions will be hosting their Golf Outing at the Bliss Creek GC. More details to follow.

Sept. 25-26       Lions of Sun City Pancake Breakfast — serving from 8—11 AM both mornings at Cosman Cultural Center at Deicke Park. $5 for Adults / $3 for Kids 3-12. Proceeds used for charitable community Projects.

Oct. 08-09         LIONS OF ILLINOIS Candy Days throughout the state of illinois.

Oct. 3               Lions All Wheel Fall Classic Car Show -- hosted by the Elburn Lions Club.

Nov. 5               Bloomingdale Lions Club Spaghetti dinner at the Bloomingdale Golf Club from 5-8 PM. $10 per person, children 8 and under eat free. Proceeds to benefit visually & hearing-impaired persons in the community. For more information, contact larry@epiceq.com.

Nov. 13             Cortland Lions Clubs and the Kishwaukee YMCA’s 1st Annual Turkey Trot — a 5K race to benefit the restoration of the Lions Shelter used by the community. Pre-register at www.signmeup.com/71367 for $20 or 7 AM on the day of the race at Cortland Lions Den, 70 South Llanos, Cortland, for a $25 fee. First 200 registrants receive a T-shirt & goodie bag. Nov. 20             Wine Festival, hosted by Wheaton Lions Club, at DuPage Historical Society Building, 2nd floor, Wesley and Main Street, Wheaton. Catered by Wheaton Park District with wine from Tasting DeVine from 6-9 PM. Bring prospective members. For more info, contact Lion Jim Ellingson.

May 13-15         91st LIONS OF ILLINOIS STATE CONVENTION, Effingham IL. Only one hotel is attached to the Convention Center -- The Hilton Garden Inn  - 217-540-7777. Two other hotels are within 1/2 - 1 block away:  The Country Inn & Suites - 217-540-5555 and Holiday Inn Express - 217-540-1111. Call for special Lions’ Rates. There will be golfing and bus tours during the weekend.
