Apr. 16             Algonquin Lions Club is hosting a Golf Outing today at RedTail Golf Club, 7900 Redtail Drive, Lakewood, IL. Individual foursomes, play scramble, best ball or individual scoring. $45 per person. Register at the RedTail Pro Shop ASAP at 815-477-0055 to reserve your tee time from 2—4:30 PM. Be sure to mention you are reserving a tee time for the Lions Golf Outing.

Apr. 21             Last day to make reservations at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel and Conference Center for the MD-1 State Convention. Call 309-862-9000 for a reservation.  Tell them you’re with the Lions! Guest room rate is $99 per night, plus 12% tax, and includes overnight self-parking in the hotel’s garage. Be sure to tell them you are with the Lions of Illinois to receive the discounted room rate.

May 01             Registration opens for the Naperville Noon Lions 5K Turkey Trot. In 2014 this event sold out one week in advance, so register early. The race takes place on November 26, 2015, Thanksgiving morning, starting at 8:00 a.m. from Naperville Central High School. On-line registration only accepted at www.napervilleturkeytrot.com. May 01             Glendale Hts. Barangay Lions Club’s 31st Charter Anniversary celebration at the Glendale Lakes Golf Club. May 02             2nd Annual United Civics Association (South Elgin Lions Club is a part of this group) Poker Run & Club Crawl in early May. May 08             Sandwich Lions Club Annual Lou Brady Drawdown and Silent Auction will start at 6:30 PM at the Fox Valley Older Adults Center, 1406 Suydam Road, Sandwich. Dinner will be served at 7 PM. This event will provide scholarships for two graduating high school seniors. May 22-24        Westmont Lions Club sponsors the Red, White and Bar-B-Q over Memorial Day Weekend at Ty Warner Park, 700 Blackhawk Drive, Westmont (N of Ogden Avenue/E of Cass Avenue). This is a Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned event. Free admission, cooking demos, professional BBQ competition and amateur BBQ competition, craft & commercial vendors, three days of Free Live music and, and an all ages Carnival.

May 24-25        South Elgin Lions’ Diabetic Day Fundraising from 8 AM to 5 PM. Volunteers needed at street corners and at the booth.

May 30             LIONS OF IL FOUNDATION OFFICE will have a Sorting Party at our new office building at 2254 Oakland Drive, Sycamore. Anyone that can spare a few hours to assist is welcome. Hours will probably be from 9 am till sometime around 2 PM. Reportedly, breakfast snacks and a noon lunch will be available for those sorting.

Jun. 01             The Naperville Noon Lions Club’s Annual Summer Raffle begins today and runs through Labor Day. Buy a ticket from any Naperville Noon Lion.

Jun. 06             LIONS OF IL FOUNDATION’S “Summer Scamper” 5K Walk/FunRun will start at 8 AM at Elburn Lions Park. Day of Race Registration starts at 7 AM. 1 mile Walk/Fun Run—$15. 5K—$30 through May 16th, then $35. Registration after May 16th may not include a T-Shirt. Jun. 26-30        98th LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION at Honolulu, Hawaii — Registration Form is available on www.lionsclubs.org. Regular Registration (between Jan. 10 and Mar. 31, 2015) is $150 per adult / Late Registration after April 1, 2015 is to be done on-site at the Convention at a cost of $170 per adult.

Aug. 01            LIONS OF ILLINOIS FOUNDATION LOW VISION PROGRAM 22nd Annual Golf Classic at Railside golf Club, Gibson City, IL. Registration from 10 to 11:30 AM. Lunch at 11 AM. Shotgun Start at 12 Noon. $80 per golfer / 4 golfers per team. An LIF Logo Lob Wedge will be given to each registered golfer. Many prizes and give-aways.

Sep. 07            Winning tickets will be drawn today at Naperville's Last Fling Celebration. Raffle tickets can be purchased from any Naperville Noon Lion or several sales locations in Naperville.

Sep. 17-19       USA/CANADA LIONS LEADERSHIP FORUM at Grand Rapids Michigan. Early Bird Fees are $277 through June 1; Summer Fees are $288 from June 2 through July 20; Last Minute Fees are $310 from July 21 until the Forum starts.

Nov. 26            Naperville Noon Lions Club’s 18th Annual 5K Turkey Trot starts at 8 AM at Naperville Central High School, 440 Aurora Avenue, Naperville. Adult registration fee is $35 until October 31st and $40 thereafter. Fee for children ages 10-14 is $30 and $25 for children age 9 & under. Online registration only at www.napervilleturkeytrot.com. There will be no Race Day Registration. Both runners & walkers are welcome. The race is limited to the first 7,500 runners and has sold out the past four years.
