Apr. 11-13   2008 DISTRICT 1-J LIONS CONVENTION at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville on Warrenville Road.

Apr. 11   The Glendale Heights Barangay Leo Club will be holding its annual Fashion Show at Villa Olivia tonight.

Apr. 18   Sun City-Huntley Lions Club is hosting its annual Pasta Dinner at the Huntley High School from 5 to 7 PM tonight. Cost is $8 for adults/$7 for seniors/$5 for children. Enter at Door 19. Contact Sun City-Huntley Lions for tickets or Lion Jerry Darlington at 224-569-6191 for additional information.

Apr. 19   PLEASE NOTE: Change in date for “SOMEONE SPECIAL” at Drury Lane Theatre, Oak Brook. Also a change in the play, too -- it will be “The Wizard of Oz.” Ask the Oakbrook Terrace Lions Club how your club can help!

Apr. 1 9  Darien Lions Club is hosting its Spring “One Club” Golf Tourney at Carriage Greens -- $60 for golf, lunch, some beverages and an afternoon of Lionism.

Apr. 1 9  At James “Pate” Philip State Park, i696 W. Stearns Rd., Bartlett -- from 12 Noon to 4 PM -- Bartlett Leos will take part in the Bartlett Park District’s 8th Annual Earth Day Celebration. Leos will be helping children make & fly kites during the afternoon. It is hoped that over 200 kites will be able to fly at the same time! What a sight!!!

Apr. 19   West Chicago Lions will be collecting eyeglasses & hearing aids from 8 AM -2 PM at the Sims Recycling Solutions Earth Day event. Located at Powis & Harvester Rds, West Chicago (across from DuPage Airport).

Apr. 20   Last day for Lions Club Secretaries who file paper MMRs to send in report to LCI -- on-line filers should think about doing their MMR soon to avoid the last-minute rush!

Apr. 20   The Maple Park Lions Club is hosting a Pancake Breakfast this morning from 7 AM to Noon at the Maple Park Legion Hall. Adults - $7, Children 5-12 - $4.

Apr. 20   Sandwich Lions Club Pan cake Breakfast from 7 AM - Noon at St. Paul’s Parish Center. Proceeds will go to Relay for Life.

Apr. 23   Roselle Lions Club Fashion Show, “Wicked Fashion s,” at The Seville, 700 S, Barrington, Streamwood, will feature clothe s from Sassy’s Originals and Coldwater Creek. Cocktails at 6 PM and Dinner at 7 PM with fashion show immediately following dinner. $ 28 per person donation. Contact Lion Kathy Dombrowski at 630-894-2102 for tickets o r more info.

Apr. 25   The Bartlett Leo Club will hold its 1st Annual Te en Dance to celebrate Leo Awareness Month at the Bartlett Log Cabin. Sixth to ninth g raders are invited. Cost is $5 per person. (Bring a bag of used crayons for a $1.00 discount.) Pizza & soda will be provided, as well as music for dancing. Proceeds from the dance will be donated to Camp Lions.

Apr. 25-26   Bartlett Lions will be standing on street corners collecting for the Diabetes Association.

Apr. 25-26   Rose Days for DeKalb Eve. Lions Club.

Apr. 30   All Club Secretaries – definitely the last day to file your club’s MMR and Activity Report on-line for the month of Apr.

May 1     Villa Park Lions Club Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser at Willowbrook High School, 1250 S. Ardmore, Villa Park. Serving from 4:30 - 7:00 PM. Good food plus entertainment b y the Willowbrook Jazz Band. Adults $5.00 / Children 3-12 - $3.00. Tickets available a t the door.

May 2     Sandwich Lions Club’s annual Drawdown tonight at Fox Valley Community Center, a cross from the Fairgrounds) will provide $2,000 scholarships to a graduating girl and boy. Grand prize is $1,000. Cost of a ticket is $3 0 and includes a meal. You need not be present to win. Contact Lion Leo Sondgeroth at 815-786-7380 for tickets and additional details.

May 3-4  De Kalb Eve. Lions Club Annual Shrub Sale -- “Dig orders” may b e picked up on May 10th.

May 8     A Hearing-Impaired Picnic will be hosted by the Aurora Noon Lions Club today at Phillips Park.

May 9     Steak Fry at the Bloomingdale Golf Club, hosted by the Bloomingdale L ions on this date.

Ma y 9 -11   Batavia Lions Club’s Annual Plant Sale takes place today.

Ma y 10   ILLINOIS STATE LEO CONVENTION at Medinah Shriners Center, 550 Shriners D r., Addison. Details on the Dist. 1-J web site under Conventions. $5 additional charge per person for those registering AFTER May 1st.

May 11   Mothers’ Day Breakfast at the Elburn Lions Clubhouse, hosted by the Elburn Leo Club.

May 15-18 IL STATE LIONS CONVENTION -- Westin Hotel, 400 Park, Itasca IL (Exit at Thorndale off of I-290 and go east to Park)

May 18   A Benefit for Shelby Edwards, a young child with multiple illnesses -- hosted by the Elburn Leo Club.

May 29-Jun. 1   Rose Fest in Roselle -- look for lots of hard-working Roselle Lions there! Food, beverages, and a carnival.

Jun. 1      LIF WALK For Sight at Danada Equestrian Center, Wheaton/Naperville Rd., Wheaton IL. Starts at 4:30 PM this year. Registration begins at 3:30 PM.

Jun. 1      9th Annual Lions Ride for the Kids -- hosted by the Elburn Lions Club. 50/50 tickets are on sale to support the club’s charities -- $10 each or 3 for $20.

Jun. 9      12 Noon Shotgun Tee Off at Cary Country Club, 2400 Grove Lane, Cary, for the Cary Firefighters Assn. & Cary Lions Club Steve Macko Memorial Golf Tournament. Early entry fee of $100 per golfer by May 19th. After that time -- $125 per golfer. Hole Sponsorship is $100. Dinners only are available for $25 each. The first 36 foursomes to call Lion Gene Cook at 847-639-6788 or 847-513-2498 are in! Proceeds will go to scholarship given in memory of Firefighter Steve Macko.

Jun. 15    Elmhurst Noon Lions are holding a Reverse Raffle today, the last day of Elmfest. The club will have a tent in the Entertainment Center where Lions will serve lunch & beverages and a band will play. The raffle starts at 1:30 PM.

Jun. 17    8th Annual “Help Us Help Others” Golf Outing, hosted by the Fox River Grove Lions Club and the FRG Firefighters at Chalet Hills Golf Course. $120 per golfer includes golf, cart, lunch, and dinner. Terrific raffles, prizes, and contests. Contact Lion Larry Bailey at 847-639-9041 for more info. Looks to sell out early this year!

Jun. 21    Lions Club Secretaries -- Your A-1 Report will soon be due at Lions Clubs International if you haven’t been filing monthly         on-line.  And remember, the A-1 can only be filed electronically on-line on LCI's web site -- paper reports are not accepted for the A-1!

Aug. 1     Annual Charity Golf Challenge, hosted by the Bloomingdale Lions Club, today.

Aug. 1-3   Taste of Roselle, hosted by the Roselle Lions Club. Come eat, drink, and be merry!!

Aug. 20   Want to see a Beep Baseball game? The Chicago Comets team plays the Villa Park Police Dept. at Willowbrook High School today -- hosted by the Villa Park Lions Club. Details later.
