Lion James A.
Addington is and has been a member in good
standing of the Westmont Lions Club since he
joined in 1971 and has achieved 100% attendance
in over 30 of the 37 years; he has served his
club as a director, Vice-President, & for four
years as President (1975 to 1977 & 2003 to 2005,
and currently has served for three years as club
secretary. Lion Jim has also served on
many committees for the club including Candy Day
and won the Super Candy Day Chairperson in

Addington was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellow in
1994

Addington devoted 30 years in public service,
serving on several Village of Westmont
Committees, including Police Pension Board,
Police & Fire Commission, & Economic Development
Committee, and was twice elected as a Village
Trustee serving from 1985 to 1993 & served one
term as Mayor from 1993 to 1997, and in
1997 was elected by his peers as President of
the DuPage Mayors & Managers Conference, and
served for 10 years as Vice-Chairman of the
DuPage County Solid Waste Committee, and

Addington served on the Board of Directors for
DuPage Habitat for Humanity from 1997 until 2007
with the last three years as the affiliate

Addington holds several awards including being
named Citizen of the Year in Westmont, Illinois
in 1980 & again in 2001, he holds several
Governor Appreciation Awards & several club
recognitions. Lion Jim Addington served District 1-J in several capacities including Cabinet Secretary Treasurer in 1975-1976, and as a Zone Chairman from 1978 to 1982, and as Deputy District Governor from 1983 to 1985, and again as Zone Chairperson from 2003 to 2009 & was elected as the first 2nd Vice District Governor of the District at the convention held in April 2009. Lion Jim was Elected 1st Vice District Governor in April 2010 and now District Governor in April 2011.
