Leo Snyder

South Elgin Lions Club

 
     

Lion Leo Snyder joined the South Elgin Lions Club in 1996 and has perfect attendance for all 15 years.  He has served his club as Tail Twister, Vice President twice, and Club President twice in 1999-00 and again in 2003/04.  Lion Leo is currently the club's Bar Steward and Building Manager.

Lion Leo has been awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow, Lions of Illinois Foundation Fellow, South Elgin Lions Club Lion of the Year and numerous other Club awards.  Lion Leo has sponsored 51 new Lions into Club.  He has received an International President's award for sponsoring the first Lioness club in Illinois to bridge over into a Lions Club while president in 2002/04.  Lion Leo is a Certified Guiding Lion and was named the District 1J Lion of the Year in 2000/01.

Lion Leo has served as Zone Chairperson for 5 years.  He was District and State LEHP Chairperson in 2003/04.  Lion Leo served as Lions of Illinois Hearing Screening Chairperson in 2002/04.  Lion Leo has attended all District Conventions and many State and International Conventions since becoming a Lion.  He has also attended several USA/Canada and Illinois Leadership Forums.

Lion Leo has devoted his efforts to the Village of South Elgin as a Riverfest festival committee ember for 14 years.  He served as President of the SEPAC/DARE program and stills serves on it's Board of Directors.  He was recognized as the outstanding volunteer of the year by the Village of South Elgin, served as the Grand Marshall of the 4th of July parade and sever as chairperson for the fundraiser to provide tornado relief for the residents of Haysville, Kansas.
